This project is a video clip made to the composition of Edgar Varese’s "Electronic Poem". The characteristics of the music such as frequency or volume influences the 14 different parts of the animation.
Each part is represented by a different pattern. These patterns are visual variations obtained thanks to a mathematic formula known as Lamé curves or super-ellipses.
- Animation
Throughout the animation, patterns evolve. To create each pattern, I modified several parameters: the number of intersections of the grid on which there is a pattern each time; the size of the motif; the variables that will influence the animation and their intensity; the number of overlays of a pattern; the way the patterns are drawn (line, dotted line, filled form) and the thickness of the line and the size of the points.

The starting point of the project is the idea of transforming a form into another one. I first tried to reproduce a morphing effect in 3D with processing, however, the results didn’t convince me wherefore I decided to restrict myself to 2D. I came across the Lamé formula while researching a deformation effect for 2D transformations.
